Referrals

Practitioners prefer referrals via medical objects. You can also send referrals via email: [email protected]

We do not have the capacity to facilitate urgent or emergency referrals. For emergency’s, please call 13 MH CALL, call 000 or present to your local emergency department.

Psychiatry

If you would like to see a psychiatrist, please see your GP to obtain a referral. It is helpful to have as much detail as possible on the referral.

Referrals addressed to a specific psychiatrist may be reviewed by other psychiatrists within Think Health Specialists to assess availability and suitability. This helps us offer timely appointments.

Please note that this review process takes approximately 14 business days. Once the referral has been assessed, we will contact you to confirm whether it has been accepted and to discuss which psychiatrists are available. You will have the opportunity to choose your preferred clinician from who has accepted before any appointment is scheduled.

Please be aware that each referral is assessed by the clinicians to see if they are appropriate to assist, and your referral may not be accepted. Should your referral be declined for our services, we will advise you and write back to your referring general practitioner. We appreciate your understanding and will do our very best to assist.

If your referral is accepted, we will typically send a text message to the nominated phone number, inviting you to contact us to schedule your initial appointments. To secure your appointments, a $200 deposit is required at the time of booking. The deposit is refundable up to 2 business days before your appointment.

Medicare rebates are available for psychiatry appointments if there is an appropriate referral.

For most psychiatric consultations, we ask for a commitment to two to three initial appointments, ensuring a comprehensive assessment and tailored treatment plan.

Therapy & Psychological Assessments

You do not need a referral to see a psychologist. However, to access Medicare rebates, it is recommended you see your General Practitioner for a Mental Health Care Plan.

Your private health insurance may cover a portion of the appointment. Please speak directly with your insurer.

Speech pathology

Bonnie Kang currently has availability for new clients. Before appointments can be offered, Bonnie requires initial information, including the reason for your visit and the age of your child. Providing these details helps ensure that your child is booked for the most appropriate service.

Funding and Rebates:

Your private health insurance may cover part of the appointment fee. Please check directly with your insurer for details.

Medicare rebates may be available if your child has a Chronic Disease Management Plan or Team Care Arrangement. Please speak with your GP to find out whether you are eligible.

Medicare rebates may also be available under the Complex Neurodevelopmental Disorder Pathway or other eligible disability schemes. Your GP, Paediatrician, or Psychiatrist can advise and provide a referral if appropriate.

You may be able to use NDIS funding for speech pathology appointments. Please note that Think Health Specialists does not bill directly to the NDIS. The full fee is required at the time of the appointment, and there may be an out‑of‑pocket cost. We recommend discussing funding options with your NDIS provider.
